Clubhouse Ballroom
Main Audio Cart
Individual volume adjustments
Master volume adjustment
The Basics:
1. Taylor Management - notify the office of your requirements ahead of time.  Taylor Management will bring out and set up the mobile cart; plug the power and speaker cables into the wall sockets, install fresh batteries and test the hand held mics.  Only one or two individuals from each club, instructed by Lynn or Cheryl, may touch the sound system.
2. Power Switch - one switch turns on power to all devices on the cart (except Lavaliers)
3. Microphone(s) - There are 4 hand held microphones. Turn audio on the one(s) you are using (switch on bottom).
4. Mixer - adjust audio volume at the mixer (individual and master controls).
More Detailed Instructions:
(for the technically curious, and to do more)
5. Power Switch - all devices (except the Lavaliers) are plugged into a 12 point (6 on front & 6 on back) power strip permanently mounted on the cart.  All device power switches are left ON so that the one switch on the power strip controls all devices at once.
6. Wireless Modules - The system is equipped with four (4) Audio-Technica wireless hand held mics (ATW-T220), two (2) clip-on mic assemblies (ATW-251, might be lost), and one (1) instrument pick-up mic assembly (ATW-251/G).  The hand held mics have self contained transmitters while the instrument and electronic pick-ups have body pack transmitters.  Seven (7) receivers, each with 2 antennas (most unseen in rear of modules), mounted below the mixer, receive the RF wireless signals and convert to audio outputs permanently patched to the mixer via XLR patch cords.  Receivers have LEDs to show RF and audio signal levels. The power switch is always kept ON and the channels are pre-selected.  Receiver #6 appears to be dead.
7. Mixer - The Peavey PV-14 mixer provides volume and enhancement control on an individual microphone or instrument output as well as volume control affecting all outputs.  Undesirable conditions of each input notify the user to adjust the volume when warning lights appear.

The first five (5) inputs appear to be permanently patched to the first five (5) wireless modules.  The Line (1/4" phone) jack associated with these inputs should not be used to avoid interferring with these microphones.  The Insert jacks are never used as inputs.
8. Laptop & CD Players - Stereo inputs (e.g. from Laptops, MP3 CD players, etc.) can only be accommodated on inputs 11-12 and 13-14 (inputs 1-10 are mono only).  The A/B input selector must be in the "A" position for the 1/4" phone jack inputs, and the "B" position for the RCA phono jacks.
9. Lavalier Mics - to use one (or more) of the Samson Stage 5 wireless mics, patch into one of the available 1/4" phone inputs (6, 7, 8 or 10) from the wireless receiver.

10. Main Amplifier - A Peavey PV 1500 amplifier produces up to 1500 watts of power.  XLR jacks are used to input the signals from the mixer and binding posts for the output connections to the speakers are presented on the amplifiers rear panel.

11. Speakers - Eight (8) Polk 80i speakers are mounted in the ceiling.  Odd numbered are installed along the ballroom inner wall and even numbered along the window side. The speaker configuration takes advantage of a series/parallel arrangement coupling speakers 1 & 4 in series, 5 & 8 in series and both pairs in parallel marked as channel A. An exact duplicate of this wiring is arranged as channel B for speakers 2, 3, 6 & 7.  The configuration results in an 8 ohm impedance presentation to the amplifier. A speaker distribution board is located in the attic space over the mens room.

14. New Speakers - two recently (2015) purchased Peavey PR-12 speakers may be used in place of the 8 ceiling mounted speakers.  These are 8-ohm 400 watt speakers with two 1/4" phone jack input connections (in parallel for daisy chaining).
Instructions for PR-12 Speakers
The required cables (different from the cables used for the ceiling speakers) are in a box marked "Audio Cables 4 Peavy Speakers" in the audio cart.
